The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) is an integral member of the treatment team, functioning as the primary conduit between client, clinical, and medical staff, working to ensure the implementation and integration of the person-centered treatment plan.

Highschool diploma or equivalent is preferredUnderstanding of Substance Use Disorders and Dual DiagnosisMust maintain a positive demeanor and clear understanding of professional boundaries with clients and staff.Ability to follow directives explicitly, adhere to facility policies, and exercise time management skillsCompletion of CPR and HWC prior to working the floorSchedule flexibility may be required to accommodate patients.Must hold a valid driver's license with reliable transportation.Key Responsibilities :
Participates in performance improvement activitiesEnsures clients attend groups and participate in treatMonitors and assists clients when they're not in group meetings, i.e., free time, hallways, common rooms, mealtime, medication pass time, smoke breaksPerforms client room checks two times per shift including surveillance for prohibited itemsPerforms client intake including drug and alcohol screens and body searchesMonitors compliance with treatment center rulesAssist clients with telephone use per facility policyAccompanies clients during smoke break at all timesAssists nursing staff during medication pass timesAdheres to HIPAA regulations including release of client informationDocuments shift notes, safety rounds, and client personal belongings inventory in the EMPerforms duties for discharge including gathering all client belongings and completing the discharge checklistFor clients discharging AMA, BHT completes the BAM, Suicide Risk Assessment, AMA questionnaire and Refusal of Treatment AMA Form when directed (When assigned the BHT Shift Lead, BHT will be the point of contact in the event the BHT Manager is absent.)Reports safety hazards to supervisor or Executive DirectorPerforms appropriate hand hygiene throughout the shiftUses personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriatelyCompensation : $15-18 / hr
