POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY:The Regional Director is the anchor for effective coordination and implementation of The Hidden Genius Project’s core strategy and operations in a specific region. As the organization continues to grow, this individual serves as the daily flag-bearer ensuring quality, creativity, and integrity as the organization advances its mission to elevate Black boys and young men as dynamic leaders in their communities. The Regional Director is instrumental in its region's external programming, including Catalyst events, Community Partner Programs, and various capacity-building activities for overall operational excellence. Additionally, this leader will need to be agile and able to not only hold space for the current needs of the organization in their region but must also be able to execute and action needs as they develop.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Essential Functions:Region Success
- Establish and manage regional office operations to oversee and ensure the consistent
- Continually evolve the region and adapt to the current climate through collaborative
- In partnership with senior leadership, provide site staff with guidance and hands on
- Responsible for bringing the program vision to life consistently at the highest level of
- Collaborate with leaders and stakeholders focused on curriculum and instruction to ensure
- Identify trends and best practices pertaining to quarterly or annual programmatic needs
- Manage a regional programs calendar, to include regional staff meetings. Supports local sites
- Manage regional program budget for a region’s programming, including Catalyst and
- Collaborate with key team leadership members to ensure that staffing remains adequate
- Establish a regular cadence of in-person attendance and support of programming within the
- When engaging young people, develop rich one-to-one connections with Hidden Geniuses
- Steward relationships with external stakeholders to grow capacity-building activities for
- Identify and participate in relevant public advocacy opportunities related to policy issues
- Support and participate in processes to solicit participant and parent/guardian feedback to
- Support additional organizational initiatives, community engagement efforts, and national programming as needed.
- Assist with event planning, logistics, and facilitation.

- Engage and mentor youth participants and colleagues through hands-on learning experiences.

- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to optimize program delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Required:

- At least five years of program management experience, three of them being across a region

ROLE OVERVIEW:Role Location: Eastern Region of the United States/Central team role Status: ExemptSchedule: 40 hours per week, starting April 2025, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Our organization operates within a dynamic structure that supports both site-based and central team roles. Site-based team members play a key role in our 15-month youth program, with an immersive summer schedule (Monday-Friday, between 7 AM - 6 PM for seven weeks) and a structured fall schedule that includes full-time hours, one evening per week, and one Saturday per month. Meanwhile, central team members maintain a Monday-Friday schedule (typically between 7 AM - 6 PM), supporting organizational needs through strategic initiatives, cross-functional collaboration, and efforts beyond core job duties. Regardless of role, every team member contributes to our shared mission and the success of our Geniuses.WORK ENVIRONMENT:The Hidden Genius Project operates in a dynamic and flexible work setting to best support our mission and the needs of our youth. We are flexible but require an onsite commitment for the first year of employment. Site-Based Roles: Staff in these roles work from programming locations within local communities. These locations have traditionally included school sites, faith-based institutions, and other commercial or community spaces designated for youth development programs. Site-based roles require adaptability to varying facilities and settings, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for program delivery. Site-based roles have the flexibility to work remotely as approved by supervisors and within our workplace policy and program needs. Central Team: Primarily based between our headquarters in Oakland and our Los Angeles site in CA, both feature a modern office setting. While many responsibilities are managed from a central location, team members have the flexibility to work remotely as needed and within our workplace policy. Remote work arrangements require supervisor approval, proactive communication, self-discipline, and the ability to collaborate effectively across time zones and locations. General Work Conditions:
- Requires occasional travel for site visits, events, and meetings.
- Collaboration with staff, partners, and youth may extend beyond traditional work hours to meet programmatic and organizational demands.
