What are the responsibilities and job description for the Group Facilitator position at Hideaway Recovery?
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Group Therapist specializing in PTSD and trauma-focused therapy to facilitate group sessions for individuals dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder, complex trauma, and related mental health challenges. The therapist will play a critical role in providing evidence-based treatment in a supportive group setting, fostering resilience, and promoting healing among clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate structured group therapy sessions using evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)when appropriate.
- Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Create a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients can openly discuss their trauma-related experiences and challenges.
- Educate clients on coping strategies, emotional regulation techniques, and mindfulness practices to support recovery.
- Maintain accurate documentation of therapy sessions, and client progress in compliance with confidentiality and regulatory standards (e.g., HIPAA, DHCS, Joint Commission).
- Stay updated on the latest research and best practices in trauma and PTSD treatment through continuing education and training.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
- Licensed or license-eligible as an LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, or Psychologist in [State].
- Specialized training and experience in trauma-informed therapy, PTSD treatment, and group facilitation.
- Certification in EMDR, CPT, or TF-CBT is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of trauma responses, dissociation, and complex PTSD in diverse populations.
- Experience working with veterans, first responders, survivors of abuse/violence, and other high-risk groups is a plus.
- Excellent communication and group facilitation skills with the ability to create a supportive therapeutic environment.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
- Multicultural competency and ability to work with diverse client populations.
- Familiarity with somatic therapies, mindfulness-based interventions, or expressive arts therapy for trauma recovery.
