The Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of equipment and facilities by effectively leading a team of multi-craft technicians, planners, and administrative personnel. This role focuses on implementing and executing maintenance strategies that maximize equipment uptime while optimizing costs and resources.
The Maintenance Manager will oversee equipment records, maintenance planning, spare parts inventory, and the MRO budget, ensuring compliance with purchasing procedures. This position reports directly to the Plant Engineering Manager and works closely with the Utilities Manager, Wastewater Manager, and Reliability Engineering Manager to uphold the integrity of all company assets.
All maintenance activities must align with food safety, OSHA regulations, and quality standards. In the absence of the Maintenance Manager, a trained team member will assume responsibilities to ensure seamless operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Manage a plant maintenance team, including planners, parts room coordinators, and multi-craft technicians.
- Train, mentor, and develop technicians through structured training programs and career progression strategies.
- Maintenance Strategy & Execution:
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies to enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Oversee the scheduling and execution of preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Conduct root cause analysis and failure investigations to resolve recurring equipment issues.
- Utilize CMMS and data analysis tools to track equipment performance and maintenance history.
- Operational Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:
- Partner with plant leadership and operations teams to identify and prioritize maintenance opportunities.
- Inspect production machinery to ensure compliance with regulatory and operational standards.
- Develop and maintain key performance metrics for reliability and sustainability improvements.
- Budget & Inventory Management:
- Develop and manage the maintenance/MRO budget, ensuring cost-effective planning and resource allocation.
- Determine spare parts and inventory requirements to support proactive maintenance.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations and food safety guidelines.
- Provide training on safe work practices and enforce adherence to company safety policies.
- Respond to emergency maintenance situations, including those occurring outside normal working hours.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Reliability Engineering, or 10 years of equivalent maintenance management experience in an automated industrial setting.
- 5 years of experience with industrial controls programming and troubleshooting (Allen Bradley/Rockwell preferred).
- Technical & Leadership Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with expertise in root cause analysis and reliability engineering.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
- Proven leadership experience managing teams of up to 30 multi-craft technicians and salaried staff.
