Job Summary
The Counter Sales Representative plays a crucial role in assisting customers and contractors with the sales process by taking orders, answering questions, and receiving payment for customer orders.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and interact with customers in a positive manner, providing assistance with merchandise, pricing, and promotions.
- Process customer sales through cash registers, handling payments via various methods, including cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, and automatic debits.
- Provide initial responses to customer inquiries regarding product selection, ordering, pricing, and delivery scheduling.
- Facilitate product selection for showroom customers, maintaining accurate records of selections.
- Purchase special products, gathering information on pricing, specifications, uses, and availability.
- Attend training and meetings to increase knowledge of our comprehensive product offerings.
- Create accurate invoices, work orders, and sales tickets, inputting data into our computer system.
- Issue refunds or credits to customers with manager approval, as necessary.
- Maintain the appearance and physical integrity of our showroom, ensuring a clean and dust-free environment.
- Manage stock levels on the sales floor and in the stockroom.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1-3 years of experience in building materials sales preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
- Detailed-oriented and highly observant, with the ability to multi-task and possess good mathematic skills.
- Knowledge of building materials, applications, and construction industry-related equipment.
