High Desert Medical Group has an exciting opportunity for a full time Optometrist to join our team in Lancaster, Ca. The Optometrist, under the supervision of the Medical Director, will work to provide quality and comprehensive primary vision care, including diagnosing eye conditions caused by systemic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure, and referring patients to other health practitioners as needed. The Optometrist will examine patient's eyes, diagnose vision problems or impairments, and provide treatment for conditions and diseases of the human eye and visual system. The Optometrist will provide direct patient care under the guidelines of the Medical Board of California.

Position Details

  • Meet with new and existing patients to determine their concerns and needs.
  • Conduct comprehensive eye exams, using observation, instruments and pharmaceutical agents, to determine visual acuity and perception, focus and coordination, and to diagnose diseases or other abnormalities such as glaucoma or color blindness.
  • Perform diabetic retinal exams and interpret fundus photographs.
  • Analyze test results and develop treatment plans.
  • Prescribe medications to treat eye disease if state laws permit.
  • Educate and counsel patients on contact lens care, vision health, lighting arrangements and safety factors.
  • Consult with and refer patients to ophthalmologists or other health care practitioners if additional medical treatment is determined necessary.
  • Remove foreign bodies from the eye.
  • Provide preoperative and postoperative care to patients undergoing eye surgeries, such as cataract and laser vision correction.
  • Prescribe therapeutic procedures to correct or conserve vision.
  • Coordinate care with patients being seen in Urgent Care.
  • Work closely with necessary personnel to deliver excellent patient care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Located at the Wellness Center.
  • Comprehensive training.
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm, occasional Saturday clinics as needed.
  • Nurse, medical assistant and front office staff support team available.

  • The pay range for this position is expected to be between $131,000.00 - $188,000.00 annually; base pay offered may vary depending on individualized factors, including related knowledge, licensure skills, experience, and market factors.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $131,000.00 - $188,000.00/year, exempt; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Requirements:
  • Doctrine of Optometry degree.
  • American Optometric Association Accreditation.
  • Proficiency with modern eye care techniques and equipment.
  • A strong commitment to patient care, and the ability to educate patients on proper eye care and vision health.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize tasks to meet all given deadlines and productivity goals.
  • Ability to responsibly handle matters of a confidential nature.
  • Ability to work in a multi-task, high-productive environment.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of EMR preferred.

Compensation: $131,000.00 - $188,000.00
