Assistant Manager - Dispensary

The Assistant Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the dispensary when the General Manager is not on site, including oversight of the departments within, such as customer service, inventory, sales, and security. The AM will also assist the GM with store-level responsibilities such as accounting, compliance, recordkeeping, and reporting.


Responsibilities

  • Assist the General Manager with the following:
    • Day-to-day operations by coordinating and facilitating all the store’s transactions and processes
    • Liase with law enforcement, local and state officials, vendors, and the local community when the GM is not on site
    • Reporting for expense and income tracking
    • Inventory management
    • Staff relations and scheduling
    • Review store environments and key business indicators to identify problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
    • Event coordination with HH Entertainment
  • Open and/or close the store, and ensure the duties of all staff are completed
  • Ensure compliance, by implementing company policies and ensuring staff adhere to best practices
  • Motivate and inspire staff to provide the highest level of customer service
  • Ensure the safety and satisfaction of all customers and staff
  • Manage with integrity and honesty
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor

Education, Training, and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in retail management, or commensurate experience
  • Cannabis related certifications, courses, or trainings preferred
  • Must have a complete understanding of the federal, state, and municipal rules and regulations regarding the sale and consumption of cannabis
  • Must complete all trainings provided by management
  • Must complete yearly training requirements, including Responsible Vendor Training and other courses provided by High Haven.

Skills and Experience

  • 2 years in a supervisory role in cannabis, retail, customer service, food and beverage, hospitality, or other related industry
  • Demonstrated passion to serve the cannabis community
  • Advanced knowledge of cannabis and cannabis products
  • Cannabis industry experience desired
  • Proven ability to effectively manage a team
  • Strong operational skills in fast-paced and customer service environments
  • Knowledge of effective inventory management
  • Proficient with computers and technology, including Microsoft 365 and cannabis specific POS systems
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Capable of multitasking during high traffic times

Physical Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Schedule and Availability

  • Regular Hours: Full time salaried position, including evening and weekend hours
  • Additional Hours: additional hours may be required in the event of staff shortages or special events

Other Employment Information

  • Employment at High Haven is contingent upon passing a background check and obtaining a Dispensary Agent-in-Charge Badge from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). This is a mandatory requirement.
  • Note: IDFPR will not issue a badge to anyone with a felony or violent crime conviction. They also will not issue a badge to an employee with outstanding tax or child support obligations.
