Position: Cattle Operations Manager
Reports To: Operations Manager
Accountabilities: Pen Walking, Cattle Treatment, Cattle Processing
General Description:
This position is accountable for the daily monitoring, inspection, and assessment of cattle, their health, and their environment to ensure their well being as well as the realization of their performance potential. On a daily basis this person will:
- Manage 2-3 cattle health associates
- Ensure that each pen of cattle in the facility is walked
- Oversee and assist with the diagnosis and treatment sick or injured animals
- Perform end of day record keeping checks
- Safely operate a skid steer as needed
- Assist with the processing of pens of cattle
- Assist with sorting of market ready cattle
- Manage special pens such as lame or hospital pens
- Be responsible for implant and revac scheduling and execution
- Keep accurate and detailed records of daily activities
- Periodically assist in feed processing, feed making, feed delivery
- Periodically assist in maintenance and upkeep of equipment and facilities
- Promptly report problems or concerns
- Act professionally towards visitors of the facility (customers, salespeople, guests, etc.)
- Be punctual, honest, and accountable for their responsibilities in the position
Qualifications: previous feedlot, farm, or related experience is preferred but not required. A qualified candidate should have attained at least an associates degree or 2 year technical certificate, reliable daily transportation to and from work, and the ability to work efficiently both alone and with others.
Time Commitment: Full Time (40 Hours/Week)
Basis of Pay: Salaey
Compensation: Negotiable based on experience and proficiency.
