Job Description
Spiritual Care assumes overall responsibility for the coordination of the spiritual services, providing spiritual counseling and emotional support to patients, families, and hospice team members of all denominations. Bereavement is responsible for assessing the needs of grieving community members and compassionately guiding them through their grief journey. The key to the supervisor’s success is understanding, and meeting, the needs of staff and patients. Having strong staff available increases the quality of care High Peaks Hospice delivers.
Responsibilities:
- Operates as the initial resource for Spiritual Care and Bereavement staff incuding: triage/crisis calls, effective care planning, evaluation of documentation, support staff with difficult visits, and prevent staff burnout
- Manages master schedule of weekly visits, adjusts based on staff and patient/client needs
- Develops all direct reports to their fullest potential
- Executes training plan for new hires, evaluate progress and readiness for solo work.
- Improves processes and best practices that guarantee organizational well-being
- Ensures all services are executed in a cost effective and timely manner in alignment with specifications and quality requirements.
- Contributes toward the achievement of companys' strategic and operational objectives.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Hospice experience and/or equivalent education in spiritual and/or bereavement counseling is required.
- High level of interpersonal skills
- Knowledge regarding family dynamics, issues of death and dying.
- Able to cope with emotional stress and be tolerant of individual lifestyles.
- Ability to work in a collaborative team relationship.
- Ability to perform public speaking engagements, and lead memorial services, often during weekend or evening hours
- Must be capabale of performaing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Valid driver's licesns and reliable transportation
- Must meet all local health regulations.
