Position Overview
High Peaks Hospice exists to assist people in obtaining the best quality of life in the last six months of their lives. Our goal is to reach everyone who is eligible for hospice services and deliver those services such that every patient feels they are the most important person in the world.
Building a strong network of community partnerships with individuals, civic groups, medical offices, and local businesses strengthens High Peaks Hospice’s presence in the communities we serve in multiple ways. One result is increasing the number of people who receive hospice services. Another result is reaching potential volunteers who are interested in helping meet the unique, non-medical, needs of patients and their loved ones. To excel in the role, the incumbent should be an excellent communicator, enjoy engaging individuals in building hospice knowledge, adept and comfortable speaking in front of groups, and willing to travel to locations throughout High Peaks Hospice’s catchment area.
Key Areas of Responsibility
· Develops a deep understanding of High Peaks Hospice's mission and goals to effectively communicate to the communities HPH serves
· Assumes oveall reesponsibility for the coordination and supervision of volunteer services in the hospice program including recruitment, screening, orientation, ongoing education and support
· Maintains documentation of volunteer services in patient record according to
agency policy.
· Participates in Hospice IDT Meetings
· Provides follow-up on mandatory compliance issues regarding the volunteer personnel record
· Oversees extablishment and continued process of volunteer program
· Coordinates and facilitates the processes for accountability of volunteer time on activities
· Monitors High Peaks Hospice presence in the communities using a variety of sources (public media, personal contacts, staff, Website, Social Media, Etc.
· Assesses the needs of patients and families to educate about volunteer program and visits as needed
· Assigns volunteers to patients/families as needed.
· Participates in staff activities including staff meetings and outreah/fundraising activities
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
· Bachelor's degree or five years of equivalent, relevant experience may be considered.
·Administrative experience needed as there is significant reporting and paperwork involoved.
· Understanding of human dynamics and counseling, program plannin an dimplementaion of volunteer programs, communication skills, personnel administration and community resources.
· Knowledge of family and group treatment, community resources, and the dynamics of
terminal illness, grief, and bereavement.
· Ability to work in a collaborative team relationship.
· Must have a current New York State driver’s license.
· Must have 24-hour access to a motor vehicle and maintain personal auto liability
insurance coverage.
· Able to cope with emotional stress and be tolerant of individual lifestyles.
· Must meet all local health regulations.
· Must have a flexible schedule.
· Basic Computer skills desirable

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
