Overview

The Facilities Assistant is responsible for consistent excellence in facilities care, including routine maintenance,

set-ups and tear downs, cleaning, and other tasks which serve the needs of the church and school. The

Facilities Assistant reports directly to the Director of Facilities.

Position Responsibilities and Duties

Room setup and teardown, coordinating with Building Scheduler

Run and maintain various cleaning equipment including vacuum cleaners and floor scrubbers

Assist with maintenance of various building systems including, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.

In coordination with Director of Facilities, assist with writing statements of procedure, procuring

supplies, and scheduling weekend facilities assistants

Seasonal snow removal and grounds cleanup

Additional responsibilities, as requested

Competencies and Expectations

Commitment to prompt and thorough communication with staff and guests

Careful attention to detail

Ability to work with various tools and materials to perform building repairs

Identify maintenance and repair items that need to be resolved to assure long term facility care

Comfortable with ladders / heights

Exhibit flexibility and able to set priorities in work schedule in a dynamic environment

Follow oral and written directions

Understand emergency procedures and implement them when necessary

Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and other computer applications a plus

Follow OSHA guidelines on the storage, use and disposal of various cleaning agents and chemicals

Ability to make solid judgment calls, especially in safety-critical or time-sensitive situations

Must pass a formal background check and be deemed safe to work in an environment shared with

children

Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time and lift objects up to 50 pounds

Education and Experience

Minimum High School Graduate or completed G.E.D. equivalent. Associates Degree and / or trade

certifications preferred

Roughly 3-5 years of service in a larger church or corporate environment

Specialized training or experience in one or more areas in the maintenance of facilities a plus

Spiritual Requirements

Relationships

Reports to Director of Facilities

Works alongside all other church and school staff, as well as various vendors and contractors that

support the facility

Supports ministry volunteers of High Point Church

Hours : This is a full-time hourly position with a normal schedule primarily during regular M-F business hours.

However, flexibility with work hours is required to meet the needs of the church and school, including

occasional evening or weekend work. Scheduled hours can be flexible with the approval of the Director of

Facilities.
