Position Summary:
Monitors and patrols assigned areas to provide a safe environment for residents and associates and to minimize opportunities for loss or damage. Anticipates potential problems and reacts to disturbances and prohibited conduct. Responds to emergency situations as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards. Be able to work a twelve (12) hour shift, when needed.
Ensure that standards are maintained at a superior level on a daily basis.
Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment.
Use equipment only as intended.
Be able to be trained to perform some maintenance related issues.
Anticipate resident, guests and staff needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests.
Maintain positive resident, guest and staff relations at all times.
Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
Participate in all staff activities designed to develop teamwork, unity and promote morale.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The position falls under the direct supervision of the Department Director but is expected to perform independently and exercise good judgment. The position does not supervise or direct the work other associates.

Educational Requirements and Experience:

Ability to work with the elderly in a courteous and friendly manner, demonstrating patience and compassion. Ability to perform duties with consideration for residents’ rights at all times and demonstrate integrity and discretion in the care of residents and in handling their health information. Strong interpersonal skills.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of security/safety practices and procedures, laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to long-term healthcare. Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, interpret, and manage programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and resources necessary to provide a high quality of service.
Physical/Sensory:
Environmental Adaptability and Safety:
Works in well-lighted, well ventilated building. Must be able to tolerate occasional exposure to dust, fumes, odors, water, etc., as well as some noise. Subject to frequent interruptions. Subject to hostile or emotionally upset individuals. Must be willing to work, when necessary, beyond normal working hours and on weekends, as well as in other positions as necessary. The position requires exposure to some risk to physical and/or mental health and safety (i.e., physical assault, communicable disease, etc).
