Job Summary: A Cameraman is responsible for capturing video footage for television, film, or other media productions. They work closely with directors, producers, and other crew members to ensure that the visuals meet the creative and technical requirements of the project. The Cameraman must operate camera equipment, manage shots, and contribute to the visual storytelling of the production.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Camera Operation: Set up, operate, and maintain video camera equipment to capture high-quality footage for various productions (TV shows, films, live events, documentaries, commercials, etc.).
  • Shot Composition: Work with the director or cinematographer to frame shots, adjust lighting, and position the camera for optimal composition, ensuring that the visuals align with the story being told.
  • Lighting and Exposure: Adjust camera settings (focus, exposure, white balance) based on lighting conditions and the director’s vision. May also work with the lighting crew to achieve desired effects.
  • Technical Knowledge: Operate and troubleshoot a variety of camera equipment and tools, including cameras, lenses, tripods, dollies, stabilizers, and other accessories.
  • Collaboration: Communicate effectively with the director, producer, and crew members to achieve the desired look and feel of the production.
  • Safety: Follow safety protocols, especially when operating equipment in high-risk environments (such as on location shoots or action sequences).


Skills & Qualifications:
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of camera operation, lens selection, framing, focus, and shot composition.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen eye for visual aesthetics, including lighting, color balance, and composition.
  • Creativity: Ability to contribute creatively to the visual aspects of a production.
  • Communication: Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with directors, producers, and other crew members.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to different working conditions, environments, and equipment.
  • Physical Stamina: Capability to carry heavy equipment, work long hours, and be on your feet for extended periods.
  • Problem Solving: Quick thinking and troubleshooting ability to solve technical issues under pressure.
Education and Experience:
  • Experience: Prior experience as a cameraman or in a related role (such as camera assistant) is typically required. On-the-job training and familiarity with different camera equipment are essential.
Working Conditions:
  • Work hours may be irregular, including nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on the production schedule.
  • The job may involve working in various weather conditions and challenging environments (e.g., outdoor shoots, fast-paced production settings).
