Driver
Program & Location: Monarch House, Residential Recovery Home, New Bedford, MA
Education: High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
Requirements: Must have Valid Drivers License!
Pay Range: $18-$23/hr depending on experience
Schedule/Status: Part Time (24hrs weekly) days vary, 8AM - 4:30PM. Has potential for full time employment
About Us
SEMCOA's (Southeast Massachusetts Council on Advocacy) mission is to advocate for and provide support to individuals, families, and communities in the areas of substance use, mental illness, domestic violence, homelessness, and parenting. SEMCOA operates four emergency assistance congregate family shelters and additional scattered sites that provide supportive services to families and assist them with securing permanent housing. SEMCOA also provides residential recovery home treatment to individuals with substance use disorders, as well as transitional and permanent housing stability and support programs. Our portfolio also includes two graduate sober houses, the Family Preservation Program, as well as Greater Brockton and Greater Attleboro Taunton Healthy Families programs.
Requirements
Must present as courteous and professional at all times
Demonstrated flexibility and ability to perform multiple tasks
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to organize ideas in logical and clear fashion
Proficient and knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs including the ability to learn, use and train High Point and Affiliated Organization (HPAO) electronic health records
Must have the ability to work with others in cooperative and collaborative manner
An understanding of the relationship between substance use and mental health issues and/or self-help programs
An understanding of boundaries and ethics
Comply with Federal Regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, Substance Abuse Confidentiality Regulations and HIPAA Regulations
Certification in the HPAO approved de-escalation program
Sign and adhere to HPAO “Transportation of Patients and Driving for HPAO Business in an Agency Vehicle Policy”
Will complete all required trainings
Duties and Responsibilities
Transport residents to pre-arranged designated areas;
Pick up and deliver from and to various pre-arranged destinations for administrative purposes;
Recognize appropriate boundaries and report inappropriate behavior;
Must not veer off of designated routes for any unauthorized stops;
Utilizes standard precautions at all times including wearing of seatbelts for all passengers and driver;
Ensure front passenger seat is used only as a last resort
Demonstrates behaviors that recognize the rights of residents as defined by the patient rights;
Ensure a cell phone free and smoke free environment during transport;
Will be responsible to complete an incident/accident/environmental report when required;
Will maintain vehicle transportation log on each vehicle;
May be required to escort/remain with resident when needed;
Keep vehicle maintained and clean at all times;
Complete vehicle checklist pre and post each transport;
Will work as a Recovery Specialist when there are no transports;
Other duties as assigned by Program Director.
Qualifications
Valid Massachusetts driving license for a minimum of three years and maintain a clean and current driving record
Provide a valid driver’s license and current driving record;
Provide a current copy of auto registration with automobile insurance (only if using own personal vehicles)
Provide a current copy of vehicle’s inspection report (only if using own personal vehicles)
Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
