SEMCOA operates four emergency assistance family shelters that provide supportive services to families and assist them with securing permanent housing. SEMCOA also provides residential recovery home treatment to individuals with substance use disorders, as well as transitional and permanent housing stability and support programs. Our portfolio also includes two graduate sober houses, the Family Preservation Program, as well as Greater Brockton and Greater Attleboro Taunton Healthy Families programs.Healthy Families Massachusetts (HFM) is a statewide, voluntary home-based family support and coaching program for first-time young parents funded by the Children's Trust. The program helps to create a stable and nurturing environment for the child, providing support during pregnancy and the child's first three years of life. "Home visitors" teach parents about infant care, promote nurturing and attachment, practice effective parenting skills, and ensure parents have a solid understanding of healthy child development. Group services are offered to promote social connectedness. The program also assists parents on achieving personal goals related to education, employment, and the health / wellness of the family. Home Visitor RequirementsMust present as courteous and professional at all timesDemonstrated flexibility and ability to perform multiple tasksMust have excellent communication skills, including the ability to organize ideas in logical and clear fashionAbility to organize and prioritize a demanding work load while adhering to project timelinesKnowledge of basic computer skills and software programs including the ability to learn, use Children's Trust's electronic participant record system and HPAO systems and applicationsKnowledge of infant, child and adolescent development, parent / child attachment, and maternal-infant healthKnowledge of area community resourcesMust have the ability to work independently and with others in cooperative and collaborative mannerAbility to understand and implement Trauma Informed CareMaintains appropriate boundaries and adheres to code of ethicsComply with federal and state regulations concerning confidentialityUnderstand and adhere to all applicable policies and procedures of HPAOComplete TB screening requirementsCertification in the HPAO approved de-escalation programCPR and First Aid CertificationReliable transportation, satisfactory driving record, and a valid MassachusettsDriver's License for a minimum of three yearsSatisfactory response to a CORIHome Visitor Duties & ResponsibilitiesSuccessfully complete all Healthy Families Massachusetts required orientation and trainingsCompletion of ongoing training as appropriate for professional growth and skill developmentPractice and promote the mission of HFM and SEMCOAProvide consistent, strength-based home visits based on participant needs and service level matchComplete all required assessments to ensure appropriate service deliveryAssist in the development of the Family Service Plan and monitor goal progress and achievementPlan curriculum according to participant needs, goals, and identified interestMake community referrals when appropriate and maintain contact for follow upMaintain all written / electronic records according to HFM policiesAssists in the development and facilitation of groups and social events for participantsActively attend and participate in supervision and staff meetingsPerform other duties as assigned by the Program FunctionManager / Coordinator / SupervisorHome Visitor Qualifications Associate's Degree in Human Services or related field preferredHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredExperience working with or providing services to children and families / participantsExperience with and willingness to work with culturally diverse populations among program's target populationExperience in home visiting, curriculum planning and / or group facilitation
