What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Head Coach - Soccer position at High Point University?
This position will lead student-athletes in their academic, physical and leadership development and promote the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program in a manner that advances the brand of High Point University.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
Experience and Training
- Collegiate or Professional playing experience strongly preferred
- 3-5 years of NCAA Coaching experience strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
- Proficient in the technical and tactical knowledge of soccer
- Capability to instruct student-athletes and increase their athletic performance
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong technological skills
- Organized
- Growth Mindset
- Detail oriented
- Experience with player recruitment
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Instructs student-athletes, improving skill, sport performance and leadership
- Assists Head Coach in coaching student-athletes
- Counsels team members in academic, disciplinary and personal matters; assists in monitoring the academic progress and eligibility status of student-athletes
- Positive by nature and looks to build relationships
- Manage the evaluation and recruitment of prospective student-athletes
- Monitors the conditioning and training of student-athletes
- Participates in analysis of past performance, opponent’s performance, designing game plans/strategies, etc.
- Assist with program operations, including team travel, team meals, procurement and inventory of team equipment and apparel.
- Maintains positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively with students, students’ parents, faculty, co-workers and managers
- Other duties as assigned

- May supervise volunteer coaches and/or student assistants

You will be subject to disciplinary or corrective action by the University if you are found in violation of NCAA, Big South Conference and/or High Point University's Athletics Department rules. If you are found to be involved in deliberate and/or serious violation of NCAA, Big South Conference and/or High Point University's Athletics Department, you may be reprimanded, suspended for a time with or without pay, or your employment may be terminated.
