What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Housing Operations position at High Point University?
The High Point University Director of Housing Operations position provides direct oversight of all University room reservations protocols. Supervises two Assistant Directors of Housing Operation with room assignment, allocations for both incoming and upper-class students. Works in collaborations with campus partners such as Admissions, Athletic, Honors, and OARS to create housing partnerships for various student populations. Provides guidance and support for housing ADA accommodations. Manages the support for students with approved Emotional Support Animals (ESA); this includes compliance with student rights and responsibilities as it pertains to the ESA
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree in humanities, social sciences, psychology, education or a related field and two years of progressive experience in Housing, Residence Life, or Student Affairs department
- Master’s degree preferred in student personnel/student affairs, humanities, social sciences, psychology, education, counseling or a related field
Experience and Training
- 2-4 years’ experience as a Resident Director or combined student life or higher education experience required
- Customer service experience required
- Microsoft Office Suite knowledge and experience
- Experience with StarRez housing software is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
- Excellent reading, communication, collaboration skills and strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent organization and planning skills with intricate attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize competing tasks
- Some evening and/or weekend in work schedule
- Capacity to remain calm and make decisions in emergency situations
- Knowledge of Housing software such as StarRez
- Knowledge of housing assignments and allocations
- Ability to analyze and promote efficiencies for housing allocation process
- Proven record of addressing the needs of student residents and the ability to successfully develop and maintain positive relationships with the student community
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides overall oversight and vision for Housing Operations Team
- Supervises two Assistant Director of Housing Operations and provides guidance and direction on project related to their operational area.
- Implements the policies and procedures for Housing Operations
- Serves as primary leader of StarRez Housing management software
- Serves as a liaison between Housing and campus partners
- Represents Housing at Admission visitation events and Orientation for incoming students.
- Works with the Senior Director of Housing and Residence Life on assessment initiatives to improve Housing processes
- Works with Senior Director of Housing and Residence on future planning for housing operations and inventory
- Other duties as assigned
