What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager for Simulated Patient Experiences position at High Point University?
This is a full-time staff position at the High Point University Workman School of Dental (WSDM). This person will assist in the design, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of simulation-based educational initiatives across the program. This role will support the creation of simulated learning exercises, management of simulated patient encounters, and oversight of the various patient simulation centers (e.g., consultation rooms, mannequins, and “Future Dental Practice”).

Candidates must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the University. This person will report to the Assistant Dean for Education.
QUALIFICATIONS :
It is strongly preferred that the candidate have relevant simulation management experience (i.e., simulated patient encounters, simulation technology, patient example development, assessment, interprofessional education) regardless of the setting (e.g., K-12, higher, and / or health professions education). Strong preference will be given to candidates with simulation certifications (e.g., CHSE), advanceddegrees and / or training in education (e.g., MEd, MHPE).Candidates are encouraged to have experience supporting simulation-based learning in health professions settings and / or experience as an oral healthcare team member (e.g., dental assistant, hygienist, therapist, etc.), but it is not required.
Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities preferred for this role include :
Broad knowledge ofsimulation management, learning sciences, instructional design, assessment practices, data management, and program evaluation;application in a health professions setting is preferred
Training and experience working with learners and educators (small group facilitation, instructional development, one-on-one mentoring, etc.)
Collaboration with team members to develop curriculum content, assessments, and resources
Use of active learning and assessment strategies to enhance engagement and knowledge retention
Proficiency with word processing, presentation, data analysis, and data visualization software
Awareness of individual and team needs to thrive in a start-up education model
Evidence of motivation, approachability, coachability, & continuous development

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
The candidate selected for this position will perform all duties directed by the Assistant Dean for Education and WSDM ELT. The candidate will be expected to perform the following duties, including but not limited to :
Simulation and Skills Assessment Management
Coordinate and communicate expectations of simulation to learners, faculty, and staff
Collaborate with team members to design effective teaching environments that effectively motivate learning, engage learners, and facilitate knowledge retention
Collect learner, faculty, personnel feedback on simulation practicesfor quality improvement initiatives
Establish data management systems to collect and analyze performance data from simulations
Assist faculty in identifyinglearners in need of remediation / personalized support and facilitatesubsequent simulation and skills assessments
Contribute to research initiatives and dissemination about the simulated education practices
Participate in local and nationalsimulation and health professions education organizations
Evaluate and optimize learner educational experiences and educator training specific to simulation-based experiences
Monitor simulation needs, maintainappropriate supplies, and contribute to budget management forsustainable practices
Support didactic and experiential teaching for learners and faculty professional development, where appropriate
ACCOUNTABILITY :
This position will report to the Assistant Dean for Education with input from Executive Leadership Team members
Evaluation : Ongoing performance reviews are conducted along with an annual assessment by the Dean for Education, which includes input from the faculty, personnel, and learners.
