What are the responsibilities and job description for the MPAS Clinical Education Specialist position at High Point University?
The High Point University Department of Physician Assistant Studies is seeking a full-time Clinical Education Specialist (CES) for the Master of PA Studies (MPAS) Program. This position works closely with the Clinical Compliance and Relationship Specialist to manage administrative aspects of the MPAS clinical phase in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Education and Faculty Clinical Coordinators. The CES will have significant interaction with both internal and external stakeholders in the clinical phase of the MPAS Program and an amicable professional demeanor is essential. Internal stakeholders may include students, staff and faculty while external stakeholders may include clinical preceptors, medical office administrative personnel, or external vendors. The CES will provide direct administrative support to Faculty Clinical Coordinators. Additionally, the CES will perform all other duties as directed by the Physician Assistant Department Chair, the Dean of the School of Health Science, the High Point University Provost, or the High Point University President or designee.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Management, or a related field or equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential job functions.
Experience and Training
- Prior related experience in higher education preferred
- Health care education experience preferred
- Data management experience preferred
- Training and/or experience in the development and use of assessment/survey tools preferred
- Familiarity with similar administrative positions in other PA Programs preferred

- Proficiency in PC computer skills to include MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Datatel

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Curricular Responsibilities

Credential students for Supervised Clinical Patient Experiences (SCPEs).
- Maintain a checklist of site-specific student credentialing requirements.
- Communicate with students about outstanding requirements for SCPE participation.
- Confirm placement with preceptors in advance of each rotation.
- Pick up and distribute student ID badges for sites where this is required.
- Enter and maintain required student information in clinical phase database(s) i.e. My Clinical Exchange, Exxat, Castlebranch, Approve.
- Serve as a point of contact for clinical sites and students throughout clinical rotations.

Schedule and proctor End of Rotation exams and PackRat exams.
- Communicate with Clinical Faculty to ensure End of Rotation exams are assigned to appropriate students.
- Communicate with Clinical Faculty to plan for PackRat administration scheduling early in the cohort’s clinical phase.

Schedule Return to Campus events based on information provided by clinical faculty.
- Schedule rooms for Return to Campus activities.
- Create and administer guest lecturer surveys through Qualtrics program following notification from Course Director(s).
- Proctor student completion of course evaluations each semester.
- Download student evaluations for accreditation.
- Notifies academic advisors of student progress per MPAS policy.
- Ensure clinical preceptor licenses and credentials are up to date.
- Collaborate with clinical team on planning, organizing, and executing Clinical Prep Week.
- Collaborate with clinical team on planning, organizing, and executing Graduation Prep Week.
- Attend conferences to assist with clinical site recruitment. This may require overnight travel with reimbursement from the MPAS program.
Program Responsibilities

Plan and organize annual MPAS Job Fair.
- Schedule exhibitors.
- Work with HPU Department Administrator to reserve space and request appropriate setup.
- Communicate date/time with clinical phase students.
