What are the responsibilities and job description for the Simulation Materials Management Technician position at High Point University?
This is a full-time staff position at the High Point University Workman School of Dental (WSDM). This person will assist in the mannequin (e.g. iSIM) simulation area of the Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) curriculum. This individual will be responsible for monitoring inventory of materials and equipment used in the mannequin simulation area and supporting a safe, clean, and organized learning environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associates degree or higher in a dental or health professions related field is preferred.
Experience and Training
- Previous experience in materials management, inventory control, or a similar role is preferred, especially in a healthcare or educational setting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of dental materials and equipment
- Training and experience working with learners, educators, and/or healthcare providers is highly desired
- Proficiency in using inventory management software and other relevant computer applications
- Ability to work independently to accomplish an assigned task
- Collaboration with team members to prepare and support simulation experiences
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient working environment

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The candidate selected for this position will perform all duties directed by the Director of Simulation Learning, from input from the Assistant Dean of Education. The candidate will be expected to perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
Inventory Management
- Monitor inventory levels, conduct audits, and reorder materials as needed to maintain adequate stock.
- Receive, inventory, and store dental materials and supplies.
- Ensure all materials are properly labeled and stored in designated areas.
- Monitor the check-in and -out of dental equipment (handpieces, scanners, curing lights, etc.)
Simulation Experience Support
- Collaborate with faculty to ensure all necessary materials and equipment are set up or available.
- Set up instrument trays to correct specifications for the simulation exercises for the session.
- Assist in the setup and teardown of simulation exercises and assessments.
- Provide technical support during simulation classes as needed.
Equipment Maintenance
- Perform regular checks on simulation mannequin equipment.
- Coordinate repairs and servicing of equipment with external vendors, as needed.
- Ensure all equipment is functioning properly and safely.
Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines related to the handling and storage of dental materials.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Participate in safety training and mock exercises as required.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
- This position will report to the Director of Simulation Learning, with input from other faculty.
- Evaluation: Ongoing performance reviews are conducted along with an annual assessment by the Director of Simulation Learning, which includes input from the faculty, personnel, and learners.
