We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team in a collaborative and dynamic classroom setting. The ideal candidate will work alongside teachers and staff to support students with a range of learning and developmental challenges, providing a safe and engaging learning environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the classroom teacher in the daily delivery of special education curriculum and activities.
- Support students individually or in small groups with classwork, assignments, and activities, adjusting strategies to meet their specific needs.
- Provide behavioral support to students, implementing strategies to improve classroom behavior.
- Assist in classroom management, ensuring students remain engaged and on task.
- Help with personal care and self-help tasks as needed (e.g., feeding, toileting, mobility).
- Monitor and document student progress, noting any changes or concerns.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and other staff to ensure the academic and social success of students.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or related field preferred).
- Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities, particularly within a school or special education setting, is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of IDEA classifications and special education laws is beneficial.
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with students, staff, and families.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children with special needs.
- Ability to remain calm in challenging situations and assist in crisis intervention when necessary.
