Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with diverse learning needs in a nurturing educational environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers and other staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and provide assistance to students, fostering their academic and social development. Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing lesson plans and educational activities tailored to individual student needs.
- Support students in their daily activities, including academic tasks, social interactions, and personal care as needed.
- Help manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement and effective behavior management strategies.
- Collaborate with teachers to track student progress and contribute to the development of IEPs.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, focusing on subjects such as math and literacy.
- Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and any concerns that may arise.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to special education practices.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs or behavioral challenges.
- Familiarity with IEP processes and the ability to implement strategies outlined in IEPs.
- Background in preschool education or experience in private school settings is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to manage classroom behavior positively while promoting a supportive learning environment.
- Experience working with students on the autism spectrum is highly desirable.
- A passion for helping children succeed academically and socially within an inclusive setting.
