What are the responsibilities and job description for the EL/English Teacher - 1.0 FTE position at High School District 214?
- Works with administration, RTI/MTSS team, guidance and counseling services, student service specialists, teachers, and staff to identify students for and the related needs of students on case manager’s load.
- Works as part of an MTSS/RTI planning team to develop academic and behavioral interventions for EL and recently exited EL students that are culturally relevant and responsive to student needs.
- Provides direct services to students on caseload (in small and large group settings, individually, in pull-out and push-in formats), which help students increase academic growth and achievement.
- Coordinates and tracks success of interventions being provided to students on EL caseload.
- Provides progress monitoring of all students on caseload.
- Communicates directly with parents and families of students on caseload.
- Supports the academic transition of students from Newcomer Center to Wheeling High School.
- Assist the principal and other school personnel in maintaining communication between the school and home (for example, via newsletters and personal notes)
- Run and provide reports, as requested, in support of data accuracy for the EL Program.
- Supports EL documentation, compliance, and coordination of services.
- Collaborates with building leadership and staff to ensure equity is infused in practice and remains at the forefront of efforts to disrupt inequities.
- Performs other tasks assigned by the building administration.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with Polish-speaking parents or Spanish-speaking parents.
- A flexible schedule that may allow for evening work when required.
- Three or more years successfully working as a classroom teacher serving English Language Learners.
- ELL endorsement preferred.
- Bilingual Education endorsement in Polish is preferred.
