Position Summary:
The Academic Coordinator serves as a key member of the school’s leadership team, providing strategic oversight of academic programs, ensuring instructional excellence, and supporting student achievement. This role is responsible for curriculum alignment, teacher development, assessment coordination, and data-driven decision-making to improve student outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field (preferred)
- Valid teaching certification
- Minimum of 3–5 years of successful teaching experience
- Prior leadership experience in curriculum development or instructional leadership (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of educational standards, assessment practices, and data analysis
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership:
- Oversee the implementation of academic curriculum and ensure alignment with state standards and district goals
- Support teachers with instructional strategies, lesson planning, and best practices
- Lead professional learning communities (PLCs) and facilitate staff development
Curriculum and Program Development:
- Collaborate with department heads and teachers to develop and refine course offerings
- Review and approve course syllabi, instructional materials, and assessments
- Introduce innovative instructional methods and programs to enhance learning
Assessment and Accountability:
- Lead data analysis for benchmark testing, EOC exams, and standardized tests.
- Monitor student performance and support interventions for academic improvement
- Use assessment data to drive instructional decisions and target support
Faculty Support and Supervision:
- Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback
- Mentor new teachers and assist in the evaluation process
- Coordinate teacher training and professional development opportunities
- Assist in TTESS evaluation process
Student Support and Engagement:
- Collaborate with counselors and administrators to monitor student progress
- Assist with academic scheduling and course placement
- Promote a college- and career-ready culture across campus
- Coordinate and implement Section 504 accommodation plans and provide instructional support for English Learner (EL) students to ensure compliance and academic success
Administrative Duties:
- Participate in campus leadership team meetings and decision-making
- Serve as a liaison between staff, administration, and district leadership on academic matters
- Ensure compliance with educational policies, accreditation, and reporting requirements
