Position: Head Band Director
Reports to: Director of Performing Arts
Supervises: None
Qualifications:
- Valid Oklahoma Teacher Certification required.
- Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
- Extensive experience in both concert and marching band is required.
- Strong working knowledge of Marching Technique and Body required.
- Strong working knowledge of Color Guard, Winter Guard, Indoor Percussion, and Athletic Band required.
- Drum corps (DCI) experience is preferred.
- Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Goal: Manage and oversee all aspects of the Band Program, providing excellence in instruction, creativity, and performance opportunities while being an ambassador for Jenks Public Schools and community.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate effectively with various departments and administrators across the district.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with band staff and all involved parties within the organization.
- Oversee the Band Parent Board Organization to ensure effective collaboration and engagement.
- Manage and oversee budgets for all departmental programs.
- Supervise and maintain departmental inventory, including instruments, equipment, the music library, uniforms, and other assets.
- Coordinate and manage travel and facility operations.
- Oversee any fundraising operations.
- Continued involvement in professional organizations at the local, state, and national levels.
- Teaching duties will include students in 6th-12th grades.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Employment Terms: Certified Teacher Contract. Salary, benefits, and work year to be established by the Board through the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Jenks Classroom Teachers Association.

Evaluation: Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Jenks Public Schools Board of Education’s policy on Staff Evaluation (2.20/certified) and by Oklahoma State Law.
