POSITION TITLE: Health Care Services Teacher, Grades 9-12
Possible athletic coaching position(s) will be included in this role
QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper certification through the Arkansas Department of
Education; Arkansas Teaching License
REPORTS TO: Building Administrator(s) and District Supervisor(s)
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Knowledge of classroom management, teaching strategies, performance
assessments, and motivating young people - Knowledge and experience in the medical field in areas such as nursing, paramedic, or medical lab settings desired
- Ability to identify strengths in students that are fit for a medical specialization program within the school
- Ability to train and establish standards for students completing clinicals within the medical specialization program.
- Ability to establish and maintain open communication with all stakeholders
through a variety of interpersonal, verbal, written, and technological
mediums - Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to perform job functions with trust, integrity, courtesy,
enthusiasm, and a commitment to excellence - Ability to adapt to the culture and expectations of the Siloam Springs
School District - Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to maintain a safe and positive work environment
- Skill in recruiting and retaining students for the Health Care Services program

teachers, and administrators
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and supervise all aspects of the Health Care Services program
- Serve as liaison between industry partners and the Health Care Services program
- Maintain and keep records of inventory, budget, district assets used in
the Health Care Services program. - Search out and identify skills and certifications that make students more
marketable - Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the
physical, social, and emotional development of students - Instruct and model for student’s interpersonal job skills that will assist
them in applying and interviewing for positions - Bring in trained guest speakers in the area of Health Care Services
- Sponsor and encourage student’s participation in Health Occupation Student Association (HOSA) by attending and competing in regional, state, and national competitions.
- Be an active and supportive contributor to district and school academic
initiatives - Collaborate with other district programs, especially the other career and technical education departments
- Participate in on-going training to enhance professional skills and acquire
knowledge of the most current methods and techniques
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The Health Care Services instructor will supervise and coordinate instructional activities in the Health Care Services program to support each participant in achieving a higher level of personal skill, in gaining an enhanced appreciation for the work place, and in attaining an increased level of self-esteem through activities, performance assessments and industry certifications.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree with preferred experience in the medical field
- Current professional medical license or certifications preferred
- Previous experience teaching high school students preferred
- Ability to obtain a Technical Permit through the Arkansas Department of Education
ESSENTIAL COACHING FUNCTIONS:
- Display loyalty to the principal, athletic director, and the athletic department
- Supervise athletes and team
- Help plan and supervise any special needs/events (awards night, parent meeting, community service, etc.)
- Make suggestions and recommendations that will help the program
- Display sportsmanship towards opponents, officials, parents, and team through appropriate behavior
- Follow rules and regulations in the Siloam Springs Athletic Department, Coaches and AAA Handbooks
- Help plan and conduct daily practices for assigned team
- Attend pre-season organizational meetings as assigned by the athletic director
- Assist in organizing and running of invitational or AAA tournaments and regular season meets
- Attend professional development activities and remain current to new coaching strategies
