Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Transport Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting Guests while ensuring compliance with all traffic regulations and company policies. This role requires excellent communication skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to maintain a clean and safe vehicle. The Transportation Staff Driver is responsible for transporting authorized guests of High Watch Recovery Center to and from authorized appointments, visits, events or errands. The Transportation Staff Driver’s schedule is flexible and determined by the assignments they have from the Transportation Manager. The Transportation Staff Driver works closely with the Director of Programming.
Responsibilities
- To transport passengers in a safe and lawful manner. This includes the use of seat belts for all passengers.
- To be prompt in keeping appointments and adhering to agree upon schedules.
- To abide by the High Watch’s Rules of Confidentiality.
- To record time and mileage using the assigned forms. Turn in these forms in a timely manner so that reimbursement can be made and the files kept up to date.
- To report as soon as possible any problems or concerns regarding a specific guest or transportation request.
- To work with the Transportation Manager and any other collaborating agencies as a team member to best meet the needs of the guest.
- To inform the Transportation Manager of vacations, illness, etc. that would necessitate a substitute driver, with as much notice as possible.
- ·To treat guests with respect and dignity.
- ·To perform only those transportation requests authorized by the Transportation Manger to fulfill the treatment plan for that individual or the errand for which the driver has been assigned.
- Routinely check and test vehicle equipment for proper operation or repairs/maintenance. Notify Transportation Manager of any vehicle problems.
- Facilitate groups as needed.
- Assignments may include: transportation to medical appointments and counseling sessions; transportation to and from airport; picking up groceries, equipment or supplies; transporting to court which fulfills a court order for the guest; other transportation as assigned.
- Transportation may be local or long distance.
- Implementing alcohol testing of guests as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or GED with six months’ behavioral health experience.
2. A valid class “F” endorsement on the driver’s license and documentation of appropriate automobile insurance. High Watch will assist in acquiring a class “F” endorsement license if individual does not have that class.
3. DMV clean driving history.
4. 18 years of age or older.
5. Current training on driving agency vehicles.
6. Be able to pass a criminal background & drug test.
Knowledge, Abilities and Attitudes
1. Understanding of good focused customer service and active listening.
2. Understanding and competency of driving a motor vehicle.’
3. Ability to maintain documentation of transportation records in accordance with policy and procedures.
4. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with guests.
5. Ability to prioritize and schedule time effectively.
6. Expectation to subscribe to the agency philosophy of total abstinence for recovering alcoholics and substance abuse clients.
7. Ability to respond quickly and coordinate transportation activities based on changing traffic situation.
