Job Summary
The Milieu will report to the Milieu Lead. The Milieu will assist in ensuring the safety and well-being of the guests and with any and all tasks relevant to the daily routine of the facility as it pertains to guest activities, especially in relation to the behavioral and programming issues in the guest community, as well as redirecting and reporting negative guest behavior.
Responsibilities
- Protect the physical safety and confidentiality of the guests of Alina Lodge.
- Monitor and be accountable for all members of the community. Assure they are safely accounted for, where they are supposed to be, on time, and in compliance with Alina Lodge Rules and Regulations.
- Report verbally and in writing any unusual mental or physical behavior among the male guests to the person in charge and appropriate clinical staff.
- Act upon emergencies until proper supervision assistance can be obtained.
- Manage the guest population in all areas of daily routine and assist with any general operations of the day-to-day function of the Lodge, as needed.
- Prioritize and manage tasks throughout the day independently.
- Be a visible and present representative of the staff that will deter negative behavior, redirect negative behavior, and report negative behavior in the respective guest communities objectively.
- Give attention to and participate in sessions, lectures, staff education, staff meetings, and discussion groups as appropriate.
- Listen to the guests in discussion groups, as well as listen to them informally.
- Direct guests with problems to their counselors.
- Assisting in the admission of new guests.
- Make necessary arrangements for availability and suitability of room for the new guest.
- Observe appointed “buddy’s” responsibility toward new guests.
- Assist the Nursing department with searches of non-invasive but thorough full body searches of person and property.
- Assist with new guest’s luggage handling and storage.
- Make sure dormitories are clean and guest-assigned jobs are completed. Trained guests in assigned jobs and general cleaning practice.
- Facilitate the issuance of approved and provided recreational equipment, cleaning chemicals and equipment, and other such supplies or implements as the schedule or necessity dictates.
- Monitor and report building or grounds issues in writing to maintenance and supervisor.
- Make sure buildings and grounds are secure and safe. Doors and windows are locked, etc., as appropriate.
- Adhere to the daily schedule of activities of both the guests and the Milieus and other staff, prioritize tasks accordingly, and efficiently and judiciously apply themselves to all daily functions of the facility.
- Be attentive to guests and visitors of the property and the security of the premises.
- Assist with all set up and breakdown of lectures, conferences, luncheons, etc.
- Capable of lifting and moving furniture, luggage, etc., for storage and removal over 50 lbs.
- Must be physically able to spend extended periods on foot, standing and walking significant distances.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Perform other functions as directed by the Program Director
- All other duties as assigned.
Experience
- A background in psychology, social work, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Previous experience in a therapeutic or clinical setting is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Previous experience in alcohol and drug-related field desirable but not essential
Educational: Any combination of education and/or interest that makes the performance of duties efficient. Prefer recovering alcoholics.
