Job Title:Patient Care Associate – Labor & Delivery
Location: Brooklyn, NY 11206
Department: Labor and Delivery
Shift & Schedule:
- Shift Time: 11:30 PM – 8:00 AM
- Days Per Week: 5
- Hours Per Day: 8 (40 hours/week)
- Rotating weekends and holidays are required.
Pay Rate:
$30 – $32 per hour
Job Description:
Under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse or professional medical staff, the Patient Care Associate – Labor & Delivery performs a variety of clerical and patient-care duties to support effective clinical operations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Checking vital signs, weight, height, and recording patient information
- Assisting in specimen collection and basic lab testing (dipstick, hemoccult)
- Conducting vision, hearing, and simple urinalysis tests
- Providing basic first aid and support (e.g., dressing wounds, ear irrigation)
- Preparing patients and examination rooms for procedures
- Assisting medical staff during examinations
- Educating patients about test preparations and specimen collection
- Maintaining and updating patient charts and documents
- Escorting patients within the facility as needed
- Managing supply inventories and stocking examination rooms
- Collecting blood specimens via venipuncture and fingerstick
- Performing EKGs using electrocardiograph equipment
- Answering routine inquiries and coordinating with departments for scheduling
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor & Delivery
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of NYS DOH-approved Phlebotomy training
- Completion of healthcare-based EKG training
- Valid AHA BLS Certification
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
