JOB SUMMARY:
The Bookkeeper / Controller is responsible for managing all aspects of Highcraft’s financial operations, including maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing accounting functions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of both strategic financial management and detailed bookkeeping tasks.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Financial Management:
- Oversee and manage Highcraft’s financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for management and stakeholders.
- Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial laws and regulations.
Bookkeeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Process payroll (including sales commissions and 401k plan management), ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and company policies.
- Reconcile bank statements and financial transactions.
- Create and maintain job costing reports.
- Manage cash flow and monitor bank balances.
- Prepare and file tax returns and other financial documents.
- Handle invoicing, billing, and collections, including updating internal CRM and working with Bill.com.
- Manage all COI (Certificate of Insurance), Lien Waivers.
- Assist with quarter and year end tax filings, ie 1099’s, W-2s, 940/941 forms.
- Manage Prevailing Wage payroll and invoicing.
- Collaborate with Purchasing to ensure Inventory Control systems and processes and followed.
- Oversee employee onboarding (e.g. health insurance enrollment) and offboarding (e.g. asset collection, insurance removal).
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Attends and assists in the coordination of staff meetings, trainings, conferences, or other company events as requested.
- Collaborates with other departments to provide financial insights and support business operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
- Knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Effective day-to-day accounting department practices.
Skill and ability to:
- Solid analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to establish and maintain constructive relationships with customers and employees.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
- Proficient with various software including Quickbooks, Microsoft Office Suite: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and online sharing platforms such as Google Docs.
- Maintain high standards despite various deadlines and pressures.
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage shifting priorities effectively.
Education and Experience:
- BA in Business, Accounting, Finance or related-degree.
- 3 or more years progressive experience within the accounting field.
- Combination of education and experience that qualifies the candidate for the position.
License:
- Valid Washington State driver's license and proof of insurance at time of hire in order to operate vehicles to run errands.

Pay: $35.00 - $42.00 per hour
