Restorative Nursing Assistant
Job Description: Assists with restorative programs as indicated through range of motion exercises, positioning, ambulation, activities of daily living, dining programs, etc.
Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position. However, in no way do the following responsibilities imply that these are the only duties you will be required to perform.
Administrative Functions
1. Verify the identity of the resident before providing care, serving meals, etc.
2. Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, etc., in an informative and descriptive manner.
3. Report all changes in the resident's condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse as soon as practical.
4. Report all accidents and incidents you observe on the shift that they occur.
Employee Relations/Functions
1. Follow work assignments, and/or work schedules in completing and perfonning your assigned tasks.
2. Cooperate with inter-department personnel, as well as other facility personnel to ensure that nursing services can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
3. Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with our established policies and procedures, and as instructed by your supervisors.
4. Report all complaints and grievances made by the resident.
5. Notify the facility when you will be late or absent from work.
6. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift.
7. Attend and participate in scheduled in-service to maintain current certification as a Nursing Assistant.
8. Attend and participate in annual mandated OSHA training, TB management, bloodborne pathogens standard and others as required.
Personal Nursing Care Functions
Lift up to 10 lbs: Frequently required when assisting resident in performing range of motion exercises.
Lift 11 to 25 lbs: Occasionally may occur while working with residents.
Lift 26 to 50 lbs: Occasionally to frequently required when transferring resident. Associate is required to utilized the use of a transfer belt.
Lift over 50 lbs: Occasionally occurs while transferring resident.
Carry up to 10 lbs: Frequently required when assisting resident in performing range of motion activities.
Carry 11 to 25 lbs: Occasionally may occur when working with residents.
Carry 26 to 50 lbs: Occasionally to frequently may be required when transferring resident.
Carry over 50 lbs: Occasionally occurs while transferring resident.
Reach above shoulder height: Occasionally occurs while assisting residents with range of motion activities.
Reach at shoulder height: Occasionally occurs while working with resident in rage of motion exercise or light aerobic exercises.
Reach below shoulder height: Occasionally occurs while assisting with range of motion exercises.
Push/Pull: Occasionally occurs while pushing wheelchair from residents' room to physical therapy.
Grasping: Frequently required when documenting progress of resident. Handling: Frequently required when assisting resident with exercises.
Fingering: Occasionally may be required while documenting progress of residents.
Other Physical Considerations:
Twisting: Occasionally may occur while demonstrating exercises to residents. Bending: Frequently required while assisting residents with exercises.
Kneeling: Occasionally may occur while assisting residents with exercises.
RESPONSIBILITIES Also Include
Responsible for the residents on the bus or van
Assist in loading and unloading of residents and to monitor their ride to and from destination
Assist in managing the seating of the residents so that everyone is safe and secure.
Basic first aid
Basic record keeping
Oral and written communication skills
Health and safety regulations
Policy and procedures related to resident needs on vans and buses
Proper use of two way radio system
Attend safety meetings
EDUCATION & LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
Valid Drivers License
High School diploma or equivalent
CPR Certified
Oklahoma RNA License
REQUIREMENTS
Tact, patience and courtesy with residents and drivers
Sitting for extended periods of time
Hearing and speaking to exchange information
Reaching, pulling and pushing to open van doors or windows
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders or horizontally
Ability to monitor passengers and safely operate a vehicle
Should be in good physical condition to be able to secure wheelchairs, walkers, canes, or fastening a seat belt
Must check inside vehicle daily, front to back for any residents or articles left behind
Should be able to pick up a resident, wheelchair and other equipment out of the vehicle in an emergency
