What are the responsibilities and job description for the SLP position at Higher Call Nursing Center?
General Purpose :
Under general supervision, provides comprehensive speech therapy and
language development services to a specified population of residents. Screens
and evaluates residents; develops and implements therapeutic speech and
language development program and services.
Essential Job Functions
This facility expects their employees to promote an atmosphere of teamwork with
other employees and hospitality and comfort for its residents. Therefore, the
following list of duties is not all-inclusive :
Examines, tests, diagnoses, and administers treatments for residents with
speech and language disorders, hearing disorders, and oral motor
disorders.
Performs evaluations with particular attention to receptive and expressive
language skills, speech fluency, vocal and oral motor competence,
articulation, and auditory skills.
Maintains communication with the resident and others concerned
regarding progress, problems, home programs, and other issues related to
the therapeutic process.
Facilitates behavior management in residents and families as appropriate
to the needs of the resident.
Maintains records of work performed.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelors of Science Degree in Speech Therapy
Current license in state of practice.
Certification, if applicable, and demonstrated competency in identified
areas of specialization.
Organized and detailed in work performance.
Good communication skills with excellent self-discipline and patience.
Genuine caring for and interest in elderly and disabled people in a nursing
facility.
