What are the responsibilities and job description for the Retail Key Holder, Multi-Store, 3/4 Time, Hourly position at Higher Learning Supply Co, LLC?
This 3/4-Time Key Holder position will be scheduled on average 30 hours per week, and up to 40 hours if needed during a few busy times during the academic year. This position will primarily be scheduled to work in 4 of our stores in the west/northwest portion of Connecticut. Our stores follow an academic year schedule, so the start of term class registration period tends to be the busiest time for us, and we are always open on Labor Day Weekend to accomodate those registering students. While school is in session, day shifts on Saturdays are required.
This position will not have full manager accountability, but will be asked to open and/or close the store in the event of an unexpected call-out, to cover a vacation, or cover a manager's day off; and this position will be responsible for daily reporting when covering a manager's shift. It is important that a candidate be comfortable performing store opening, closing and basic reporting functions on those days.
This position will be responsible for maintaining outstanding customer service as per Company standards, cashiering, restocking , and assisting with the product receiving processes.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Engaging with customers that come into the store. Creating a friendly and welcoming environment.
- Ringing up sales at registers/basic cashiering and cash handling processes.
- Processing deliveries, replenishing merchandise and monitoring sales floor stock.
- Sales floor basic cleaning and housekeeping functions
- Communicate customer requests to store manager.
- Participate in physical inventory and cycle counts.
- Will be asked to open or close the store on Manager's day off.
- Any other tasks as assigned from time to time by a manager.
Skills and Competencies:
- Knowledge of basic PC computer functions
- Working knowledge of spreadsheets and popular email clients.
- Ability to communicate well and professionally both written and verbally.
- Ability to read, count, and write to accurately to complete all documentation required in our daily processes.
Requirements:
- Must be able to reliably travel between store locations as needed, even in inclement weather conditions.
- Physical ability to stand throughout your shifts.
- Must be able to lift and move boxes of merchandise throughout the store. Lifting includes product cases up to 50 lbs, unassisted.
- This position requires daily interaction with persons under the age of 18, so candidates must consent to submitting their information for a criminal background check and a check against the national sex offender registry.
Ability to work varied hours/days, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays as needed.
