Industrial Engineer
The Industrial Engineer is responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, managing components, parts, and vendor relations, and planning production materials. Key duties include evaluating and improving production workflows, leading 5S implementation, supporting APCICS certification, and maintaining Six Sigma documentation. The role also involves overseeing changeovers, tracking KPIs, and applying Toyota Production System (TPS) principles to improve flow, reduce waste, and enhance throughput and inventory management. - Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies, recommending changes, and implementing solutions to optimize workflows and reduce waste.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment in compliance with established work instructions.
- Oversee the distribution and availability of PPE and uniforms for shop floor personnel, ensuring all team members have the necessary safety gear.
- Collaborate with production managers to develop and update production schedules, ensuring alignment with daily goals and optimizing efficiency.
- Manage inventory to ensure all required materials, components, and equipment are available in the right quantities to support production needs.
- Work closely with the Quality department to maintain the integrity of data collection processes and ensure accurate production records.
- Assist in tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare monthly reports to management, highlighting trends, achievements, and areas for improvement.
- Provide daily updates on production progress, goals achieved, and discrepancies, ensuring clear communication with stakeholders.
- Support the implementation and updating of standardized shop floor procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
- Maintain training records for shop floor personnel, identifying skill gaps and supporting targeted training initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with 5S principles by maintaining an organized and clean shop floor, conducting monthly audits to improve 5S practices.
- Facilitate effective communication between departments, ensuring timely resolution of issues and alignment of objectives.
- Provide flexible support across various production positions, stepping in during peak periods, absences, or operational adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local policies, regulations, and safety standards at all times.
- Generate and share production reports with relevant teams, ensuring visibility and transparency of key performance metrics.
- Maintain a positive and proactive attitude, motivating the team to embrace challenges and drive continuous improvement.
