What are the responsibilities and job description for the Juvenile Substance Abuse Counselor position at Highfields Inc?
This is an intermittent position. Working a maximum of three hours per week.
The pay is $100 per 90 minute session, per week.
Highfields Juvenile Residential Program provides treatment to adjudicated male youth ages 11-17.
The substance abuse counselor will provide substance abuse treatment for identified youth in a manner that achieves the following program goals:
- Increase knowledge to youth, who use substances and the effects on their body and brain.
- Increase student learning in non-academic areas (social-emotional learning, life skill development and positive leisure activities) in effort to decrease usage of substances.
- Increase youth positive behavior and coping skills.
- Increase youth knowledge on risk reduction.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, human services
- Master's degree in counseling, social work, human services or similiar OR a CAADC in the state of Michigan
To accomplish the program goals, the substance abuse counselor agrees to provide the following services:
- Weekly 90 minute substance use treatment groups
- Administering substance abuse treatment using documented evidence based models and/or intervention strategies.
- Complete and submit weekly written notes for each participating youth indicating their participation and progress.
