This is a Receptionist office-type position, with some desk work and some movement to complete some tasks within the building. Strong phone etiquette and a welcoming smile is crucial to this role. Must be able to work on Sundays each week, as this is a Sunday through Thursday daytime schedule. Hourly range between 20/hr and 24/hr, based on experience.

CONCIERGE

We are looking for the right person to implement our engaging concierge service program for our residents, visitors, and business partners. We specialize in assisted living and memory care. Highgate Senior Living's mission is to devote ourselves to help each resident live a life of purpose and each of us plays a crucial role in doing so. We operate communities in the western US and are seeking the right Concierge to join our team in creating an environment that promotes a sense of well-being and the feeling of true community in a gracious, homelike setting. This position is full-time and includes serving as the first point-of-contact resource for our residents, visitors, and business partners. As the tone setter for how each person feels about Highgate when they pass through our doors, you’ll be the one that makes each individual feel respected, important, and welcomed to the community. This position attends to the various needs of our customers, both in person and through the various forms of electronic communication, ensures that the first impression of our community is always favorable, assists with resident events/functions and provides supportive services to our residents and their families.

The successful candidate will be motivated by service, an organized and detail-oriented individual with a positive and self-motivated attitude. You must have strong communication and computer skills. Excellent time management skills are important along with relationship building, persistence, flexibility, and adaptability. The essential job functions include: fielding requests from residents and families, creating informal opportunities for resident socialization, managing the first impression areas of our community, handling the phones, and maintaining certain administrative systems and records for the community.

  • Confidence to engage with seniors, their families, and our various business partners
  • Top notch customer service skills to meet the needs and preferences of our residents
  • Ability to create an appealing atmosphere for our seniors at varying cognitive and physical ability levels
  • Innovative thinking to find creative solutions to presented obstacles or problems
  • Communication skills that use kindness and compassion to respond to and anticipate the needs of our customers
  • Awareness to the overall atmosphere and ability to create that welcoming atmosphere we are known for
  • Proficient in MS Office suite, phone etiquette, verbal and non-verbal communication techniques
  • Team player with ability to develop strong working relationships along with customer service focus
  • Ability to adapt/respond quickly to the needs and preferences of our residents
  • An understanding or the willingness to gain an understanding of the various forms of dementia and how to help residents with dementia still live with purpose

Relatable Experience

  • Experience in concierge style roles or other types of customer facing interactions
  • Past experiences where you have spent time helping others
  • Educational background in hospitality, management, or leadership
  • Past roles in which you have been a multi-tasker, attending to the needs of others while monitoring the overall environment
  • Jobs you’ve had that include working with seniors or other vulnerable populations
  • Prior volunteer work or other work where you were responsible to anticipate and fulfill needs
  • Experiences that have given you a familiarity with the senior population and how aging can affect a person
  • Experience in assisted living, healthcare, hospitality, restaurants, concierge style service

Qualifications

1- At least 18 years of age

2- At least 1 year in high level customer service

3- Current negative TB test

4- Desire to serve others and work with vulnerable populations

5- Willingness to learn how to work in a healthcare/assisted living environment

6- Ability to pass criminal record/background check

7- Exercise good time management skills

8- Must be able to work well independently with little oversight

As an organization we offer our team members a good benefits package, the ability to be heard, have their opinions about things count and the opportunity to innovate. Our compensation package will be flexible for this role based on the credentialing, tenure and skill sets each candidate brings for consideration. The hourly wage range for this position is $16.50 to $21.00 per hour. Prior experience in seniors housing is preferred. A passion for your work and a commitment to serving others are essential job qualifications.
