What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Technology position at Highland Christian School?
The Director of Technology is responsible for overseeing all technology related items at Highland Christian. This relates to staff and student devices, infrastructure, and supporting the advancement of how technology is used throughout the building. This position partners with classroom teachers, administration, parents, and a broader community of resources to support the learning needs of all students enrolled at Highland Christian. The Director of Technology takes direction from the Lead Administrator and must act in accordance with the HCS Constitution and with the policies established by the Board.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS OF THE DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY
Experience: Possess work experience leading technology within an organization 3 Years of Work Experience in a Technology Related Field Teaching or Administrative Experience is preferred, but not required
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Technology or Education related field
Faith: A successful candidate must have and profess a personal and mature commitment to faith in Jesus Christ, affirm the school’s statement of faith/basis of instruction and mission statement, and sign in agreement with the school’s policy of Human Sexuality. Membership and at a Bible-believing Protestant church is a requirement of the position. (A majority of staff must be members at a Reformed Church.)

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Technology will:
- Drive technology decisions and move the school forward as it relates to the implementation of technology, considering advancements, and best practices.
- Communicate effectively with the Technology Committee, Computer Education Teacher, and outside providers to maintain continuity in technology services.
- Communicate as necessary with the e-rate representatives.
- Work alongside administration and staff to find efficiencies with the school’s educational platforms which includes, but is not limited to, the LMS, report cards, online curriculum, and extension/applications for school iPads and Chromebooks.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and determine in-house or out-sourced solutions. (In-house solutions should first be explored)
- Manage and update software and hardware inventory.
- Install and manage networked devices such as printers, desktops, smartboards, ipad, smartphones, etc. as applicable.
- Order and install new hardware per committee and/or administrator approval.
- Manage and update the system map on the server.
- Administer and manage anti-virus, anti-spyware, and software updates.
- Administer and manage login, email, and voicemail accounts.
- Administer and manage internet, phone connectivity, master clock, and corresponding systems.
- Administer and manage hardware settings that influence connectivity.
- Train teachers on technology changes (new software, hardware, processes, etc).
- Manages technology related communications to parents and students
- Monitor and manages internet filtering technologies
- Support the setup of Audio/Visual equipment (microphones, sound system, video presentation, etc.) for school events and assemblies alongside other school staff.
- Proactively update and maintain technology documentation, school policies related to technology, and the technology department budget.
- Chair and effectively lead the Technology Committee.
- Assist Administration with curriculum and technology integration projects.
- Assist teachers and students with technology problems and solutions.
- Required teaching responsibilities include the 6th grade required technology class and 7th/8th elective tech classes.
Other Duties as Assigned
- It is recognized that changing facts and circumstances impacting the school may supersede any position description, regardless of how complete. As such, in the intervening time between updates to position descriptions and any accompanying performance plans, the Director of Technology shall perform all other duties as assigned by the Lead Administrator.
ACCOUNTABILITY
The Director of Technology is directly responsible and accountable to the Academic Principal and shall be evaluated annually according to established criteria, including the imposition of annual performance goals and objectives that include reference to appropriate metrics and/or key performance indicators of success, as established in an annual performance plan.
