Public Works - Staff Engineer or Engineer-in-Training (On-Site)
About the Position:
The City of Highland is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Engineer to join our dynamic team. This position plays a crucial role in the planning, design, and construction of essential city infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Development Engineering:
- Oversee and coordinate all aspects of private development projects, including plan review, comment compilation, and performance guarantee review.
- Ensure compliance with City, State, and Federal regulations.
- Provide timely feedback and communication to developers.
- MS4 Program Management:
- Manage the City's Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) program, including permit compliance, reporting, and inspections.
- GIS Management:
- Maintain and update City GIS records using ESRI products.
- Manage GIS data, software, and consultants.
- Implement field data and project as-builts into GIS.
- Project Management:
- Prepare and manage bid packages for various projects, including street improvements, trail construction, and traffic calming measures.
- Oversee the bidding process and construction activities.
- Citizen Engagement:
- Respond to citizen inquiries regarding public works projects and provide excellent customer service.
- Other Duties:
- Prepare maps, exhibits, and reports.
- Maintain City engineering standards and drawings.
- Assist with traffic control planning.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications EIT: Pay range ($58,341-$87,512 starting up to midrange based on education and experience)
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 1-3 years of relevant civil engineering experience.
- Required:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS (1-3 years).
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Proficient understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and relevant codes and regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Qualifications Staff Engineer: ($65,707-$97,260 starting up to midrange based on education and experience)
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 3-6 years of relevant civil engineering experience.
- Required:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS (3-6 years)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and relevant codes and regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
