SUMMARY
The Head Coach is responsible for the coordination and management of the Men's and Women's Cross Country Program of the College. This position will also be an Assistant Track/Field Coach for distance runners.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Attend coaches' meetings and clinics for professional growth.
2. Attend other professional meetings as necessary.
3. Provide a minimum of three hours in-service training for staff.
4. Conduct staff meetings as necessary.
5. Hold pre-season meeting with student-athletes to discuss philosophy of the program and inform them of responsibilities and regulations and all team rules and guidelines.
6. Be familiar with and follow the policies of Highland Community College, the NJCAA, and the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.
7. Communicate and submit forms to Athletic Director as required by NJCAA, the Jayhawk Conference, and HCC regarding eligibility roster, Letters of Intent, team information, injury reports, etc.
8. Work with the Sports Information department to report scores and statistics to KJCCC and press as required.
9. Be responsible for all recruiting activities of the Cross Country program.
10. Have a plan and implement activities/events for program fundraising.
11. Supervise student-athletes in the areas of academic achievement and assist in player development and placement.
12. Assume responsibility for conduct and well being of all team members.
13. Remain until all participants have left facilities or designate a responsible person to remain.
14. Teach sportsmanship and set an example of good moral and physical behavior.
15. Work continually with the Athletic Director, Sports Information department, and other staff to observe, evaluate and upgrade the total athletic program.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. Collegiate coaching experience preferred. Recruiting experience. Experience in prevention and care of athletic injuries desired.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations
Must have a valid drivers license and a good driving record with no major infractions in the past five years. AED/CPR Certification desired.

Salary : $45,000 - $50,000
