What are the responsibilities and job description for the HEAD FOOTBALL COACH position at Highland Community College?
SUMMARY
Highland Community College, Highland, Kansas, a NJCAA Division I program and a member of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference, is seeking a Head Football Coach. This is a full-time 10-month contract with benefits. The Head Football Coach is responsible for the coordination of the total Football program of the College.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Attend coaches' meetings and clinics for professional growth.
2. Attend other professional meetings as necessary.
3. Provide a minimum of three hours in-service training for staff.
4. Conduct staff meetings as necessary.
5. Hold pre-season meeting with student-athletes to discuss philosophy of the program and inform them of responsibilities and regulations.
6. Be familiar with and follow the policies of Highland Community College, the NJCAA, and the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.
7. Submit forms to Athletic Director as required by NJCAA, the Jayhawk Conference, and HCC regarding eligibility roster, players addresses, accident reports, etc.
8. Report scores and statistics to KJCCC and press as required and in conjunction with HCC sports information personnel.
9. Be responsible for all recruiting activities of the Football program.
10. Be responsible for fund raising in conjunction with campus fundraising efforts.
11. Supervise student-athletes in the areas of academic achievement and be responsive to faculty concerns regarding academic performance and attendance.
12. Be responsible for placement and transfer of football athletes in accordance with JNCAA rules.
13. Assume responsibility for conduct and well being of all team members.
14. In conjunction with the Athletic Director, design and implement an accountability and disciplinary action plan.
15. Remain until all participants have left facilities and designate responsibilities to assistant coaches for post-game administration.
16. Teach sportsmanship and set an example of good moral and physical behavior.
17. Work continually with the Athletic Director and other coaches to observe, evaluate and upgrade the total athletic program.
Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred. Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, or Defensive Coordinator experience preferred. Three to five years college coaching experience preferred. Experience in prevention and care of athletic injuries desired.
Must have a valid drivers license and a good driving record with no major infractions over the past five years.
