Summary
The Psychology Instructor will teach all assigned courses and associated activities as related to major subject area. Courses include but are not limited to: General Psychology, Educational Psychology, Child Psychology, Psychology of Adolescence/Aging, Human Growth & Development, Social Psychology, Health Psychology, and Abnormal Psychology. The instructor will prepare all instructional materials for the various learning activities associated with the major subject area, maintain accurate student records, serve actively on College committees, and sponsor student and support activities. Related responsibilities include: keeping current in the teaching field, recommending pertinent library materials for acquisition to the Library, attending faculty meetings, cooperating and assisting student services with regard to student needs, and attending commencement ceremonies.

Education And/or Experience
Master's degree with minimum of 18 graduate hours in major required. College teaching experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Prepare course syllabi, measurable student outcomes, class outlines, and provide the appropriate information thereon to students on or before the first day of class.
- Maintain student records and observe confidential and ethical practices (e.g. attendance, grades).
- Prepare and maintain assessment procedures on students and courses.
- Meet all classes and associated activities as scheduled and maintain order and discipline. Associated activities include but are not limited to: Laboratory, Studio, Field trips, Independent Study, Athletic events, Cultural and social events, etc.
- Post and maintain office hours to advise and counsel students who request assistance. Refer students who need additional assistance to the appropriate College support service area for tutoring/counsel.
- Prepare and submit annual professional/educational development plan.
- Maintain a productive learning environment in the classroom using generally accepted teaching methods.
- Maintain listing of reference books and materials in the Library for students interested in further readings in subject area.
- Participate in periodic performance evaluations as described in the Master Contract.
- Prepare and submit reports, plans of action, program review, state reports, survey results, student placement reports, leave requests, travel requests, etc., on a timely basis as required.
- Attend in-service, department, and faculty meetings as called.
- Submit textbook requests when needed.
- Be familiar and comply with College policies, procedures, and announcements.
- Maintain up-to-date instructional program materials and equipment inventory.
- Communicate with colleagues on campus, within service district, and with other community colleges and universities.
- Provide subject area leadership in the development of new major courses, support courses, and/or program offerings.
- Consistently strive to improve the quality of service provided to the community.
- Provide leadership in the community.
- Seek the most effective ways to facilitate learning to stimulate critical thinking, to develop skills, and to broaden and enrich student interest.
- Attend commencement ceremonies.
- Serve on committee(s) as required.
- Assist with student recruitment, advising, enrollment, and retention.
- Perform responsibilities in an ethical manner.
