The Highland County Board of Supervisors is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Part-Time County Attorney to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will provide legal counsel and advice to the County Board of Supervisors and other constitutional officers.
As a seasoned attorney with a strong background in local government law, you will be responsible for advising on matters ranging from solid waste removal to budgetary matters and everything in between.
- Advise the County Board of Supervisors on matters from solid waste removal to budgetary matters and everything in between.
- Advise constitutional officers on County Ordinances and other assorted matters.
- Advise Building and Zoning Administrator, the Planning Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals on matters of law and the Highland County Zoning Ordinance.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Current Virginia Bar license.
- Five (5) or more years of experience in local government law.
- Strong writing and demonstrated ability to write in plain and simple English.
- Ability to understand complex legal issues and write memoranda explaining those issues to non-attorneys.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
