About the Opportunity:
We are seeking a talented attorney to join our team as a part-time County Attorney. As a key member of our staff, you will provide vital legal guidance and support to our county government.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Providing counsel to the Board of Supervisors on various matters.
- Assisting constitutional officers with county ordinances and other related issues.
- Collaborating with the Building and Zoning Administrator, Planning Commission, and Board of Zoning Appeals on matters of law and zoning compliance.
- Developing and implementing county policies, ordinances, easements, deeds, leases, and legal memoranda.
- Reviewing contracts and preparing reports on those reviews.
- Attending regular meetings and representing the county in court proceedings.
- Negotiating leases, contracts, deeds, and easements on behalf of the county.
- Collecting and pursuing delinquent enterprise fees and EMS fees.
- Offering guidance to the County Registrar on voting matters.
- Selling delinquent tax properties.
Our Requirements:
- Current Virginia Bar license.
- At least five years of experience in local government law.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Prior experience in zoning matters is advantageous.
- Ability to understand complex legal concepts and draft clear memoranda.
- Pre-employment background checks, if applicable.
