Major Responsibilities:
- Assembles records into a standard chart format in an accurate and timely manner.
- Locates and provides records and sets of records on an as needed basis for physicians, departments and individuals.
- Checks charts into and out of the department utilizing the chart tracking system.
- Answers telephone and receives visitors in a pleasant and efficient manner.
- Understands and uses department computers in an appropriate and efficient manner.
- Pull records for physician completion.
- Prepares and releases authorized patient information according to department policies and procedures, as well as State and Federal regulations.
- Assigns ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes to OPD PSC Physician records in an accurate and timely manner.
- Provides balance due report to MA’s for collection of co-payments at time of service
- Reviews collection pending lists
- Review’s encounter forms to check for accuracy
- Post payments and receipts
- Handles/resolves billing issues and/or complaints
- Prepares letters for physicians
- Prepares monthly patient report for Highland Gastroenterology
- Maintains Highland Gastroenterology patient follow-up log and mails patient reminder letters
- Provides ICD-10 coding information to physician’s as requested for orders
- Provides data entry for billing into Allscripts PM system for billing company
- Responds to requests from remote billing company
- Deposits co-pays in bank
- Coordinated Drug Rep appointments for Highland Gastroenterology
- Orders medication samples for Highland Gastroenterology
- Coordinates pre-certs and Specialty Pharmacy medications for Highland Gastroenterology
- Coordinates procedures for Highland Gastroenterology at outside facilities as needed
- Reviews and works unbilled list
- Reviews and revises, as necessary, all returns from Business Office due to edit failures.
- Creates and runs various reports utilizing CPSI and Allscripts PM on a daily, weekly, monthly, annual or an as needed basis.
- Verifies charges per documentation in the record
- Coordinates physician memberships, dues, and subscriptions
Requirements:
High School Graduate or GED equivalent. Associates degree preferred. Physician office or hospital experience required. Must be able to multi-task. Strong customer service skills required. Must possess excellent filing skills, and communication skills - both verbal and written. 3 years acute care coding experience preferred.
