As the Technical Development and Training Manager, you will be Highland’s subject matter expert regarding diagnostics and troubleshooting of electric vehicles and EVSE equipment.
This role has a direct impact on uptime and vehicle and charger availability to our customers. You will be tasked to work through open tickets and implement strategies to hasten repair resolution.
This includes providing our Customer Support staff with basic instructional documents, assisting our Technician team with diagnostics and repairs, and developing Highland’s technician training program.
\n- Hire and manage future training staff while developing a technician training program, internal certifications, and a skillset registry within asset management software.
- Lead the deployment of internal and external learning management programs.
- Respond to technician and customer tickets for vehicle troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs, utilizing service portals, software, and remote support tools.
- Document support tickets in Highland’s asset management system, tracking issues from cause to resolution.
- Collaborate with Highland Engineering and OEMs to identify recurring equipment failures and drive resolutions.
- Develop standardized troubleshooting and issue resolution processes for EVs and EVSEs, maintaining them in Highland’s operational playbook.
- Manage diagnostic software subscriptions to ensure technicians have necessary access and resources.
- Utilize OEM software and websites to interpret schematics, run diagnostics, and perform programming processes.
- Establish personal protective equipment standards compliant with OEM specifications.
- Maintain a comprehensive training content library across all OEMs and coordinate with Highland’s Training Specialist to achieve customer training objectives.
- Organize and participate in OEM training sessions, ensuring key information is captured and redistributed.
- Generate required reports from the asset management system to share with Senior Management regarding training and equipment issues that may be specific to OEM or vehicle type
- Minimum 10 Years of experience in fleet maintenance (combination of heavy, medium, and light duty vehicle maintenance and repair) with understanding of electric vehicle diagnostics and troubleshooting
- Minimum 2 Years of experience in electric vehicle and EVSE maintenance and repair
- Strong knowledge of school bus diagnostics software
- Must hold Master ASE Technician Certification in one of the following series; A, S, H, or T. Multiple ASE Master Certifications is preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- Understanding of technician certification processes and learning management system organization
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Ability to exercise considerable skill, judgment, and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with internal and external customers as well as many company departments
- Must have the ability to make sound technical decisions

Salary : $130,000 - $145,000
