This position will report to the SVP of EHS. Specifically, the job shall require the following:
Position Description:
Environmental Health and Safety Manager is responsible for and has the authority, responsibility and accountability to ensure all environmental and safety programs, procedures, training, work practices and controls are effectively implemented to ensure compliance with governmental safety regulations and industry standards. The chief goal is to protect the employees, customers and the environment.
Enviromental
- Leading the implementation of environmental policies and practices.
- Maintain required policies, procedures and protocols to ensure continued compliance with all State and Federal Standards, coordinating all aspects of waste management, environmental health, risk assessment and employee involvement.
- Conduct and monitor internal audits according to internal standards and monitor corrective actions to remedy the identified deficiencies.
- Perform frequent inspections of the plant to identify and correct potentially hazardous materials, equipment, working conditions and unsafe practices.
- Maintain files and records ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations. This includes keeping required licenses/permits updated, schedule required training and ensuring required reports are filed in a timely manner.
- Ensuring associates at all levels are appropriately trained in environmental matters, safety procedures and related responsibilities.
- Conduct building and ground surveys on a periodic and regular basis to detect code violations, hazards, incorrect work practices and procedures.
- Perform other similar duties as necessary to accomplish position objectives in an effective manner.
- Experience in Title 5 Air Permit and able to conduct daily EPA Method 9 Visual Emission reports.
Health & Safety
- Maintain required policies, procedures and protocols to ensure continued compliance with OSHA Occupational Health and Safety Management System Standards.
- Lead the Safety Committee and report to management staff, on a weekly basis, to keep everyone informed of safety program status and recommend changes for improvements as needed. Maintain the safety log each week.
- Maintain the OSHA 300 log in a current and accurate format.
- Review New Safety Data Sheets, maintain database and binders, inspect for unauthorized chemicals.
- Administer as necessary, the required safety training and development to comply with all company legal and regulatory agency policies.
- Conduct new associate Safety and Environmental orientation and on-boarding.
- Lead in the response to all ADEQ and OSHA inquiries or violations. Participate in all inspections.
- Lead in investigation of accidents and near misses. Complete the accident report and send to all appropriate parties. Follow up with managers and supervisors regarding corrective actions to prevent reoccurrences.
- Manage the Emergency Response and Evacuation activities including training.
- Provide a report of all activities to Senior Management via the Quarterly Review process.
- Perform other similar duties as necessary to accomplish position objectives in an effective manner.
Additional duties and responsibilities of this role will include assisting the corporate Health & Safety SVP, provide data for weekly and monthly reports, CEO Reports and Quarterly Review Reporting.
Required Qualifications:
- A working knowledge of federal and state environmental and safety laws along with regulations, record keeping and reporting requirements.
- Experience in Title 5 Air Permit and certified to conduct daily EPA Method 9 Visual Emission reports.
- Familiarity with ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems.
- Degree in Environmental, Safety, or equivalent field (experience may be substituted).
- Organization and prioritization skills.
- Manufacturing experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
