Highland Industries has an immediate need for a skilled and detail-oriented Circular Knitter to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating circular knitting machines, used to produce high-quality knitted fabrics, according to specific patterns, customer requirements, and production schedules. As a Circular Knitter, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and precision of the knitting process while maintaining product quality.
The position is 40 hours per week average, at this time, (Customer order driven and can change). We have a position open on 2nd shift. The hours for 2nd shift are 4:00pm - 12:00am. We prefer previous Knitting experience but no experience is necessary to apply. If we do not see experience, we will train someone who wants to learn a new skill.
Job Summary: This position is mainly responsible to make rolls of circular knitted fabric by creeling the knitting machines, wrapping the feeders, and keeping the machines running at all times. Quality is critical, and you must visually inspect the fabric as it is being produced on the machine and look for any defects. You will doff rolls at specified time/size and maintain any records or reports as required. Housekeeping is important to quality and requires that you keep yarn, creels, machines, fabric and the work area clean at all times. Complete the required paperwork such as filling out tickets and attaching them to a roll of fabric.
Must have:
· Must be able to climb a ladder/stairs/platforms and bend/stoop under/around the machines as needed.
· Must be able to frequently lift and or move items weighing up to 20 lbs.
· Must be able to push pull yarn carts that weigh from 150 – 250 pounds
Job Duties Include:
- Must conduct your work in a safe manner, following all company required safe work rules. Report any accidents near misses and or unsafe conditions immediately. Attend all required safety training. Maintain all safety aspects of the looms i.e. all control buttons, safety guards.
- Must work safe, attend all required safety meetings, and report unsafe conditions immediately
- Receive instructions from Mgr., Supervisor/Lead or CK Technician.
- Inspect each machine for defects in fabric.
- Inspect the yarn to ensure it is threaded properly.
- Inspect all creels; creel in new yarn where needed, making sure to creel in the correct yarn.
- Replace or repair ends that break out.
- Record all defects.
- Notify Technician of any problems with machines, yarn or fabric.
- Patrol machines constantly looking for defects in the fabric being produced, as well as, looking for any creeling that needs to be done. Listen to the machines for any unusual sounds or defects and notify the department CK Technician.
- Handle yarn and fabric with clean hands. Wear gloves when necessary.
- Doff rolls when they reach specified size.
- Exercise good housekeeping and safety.
- Report any quality concerns, deviations from process sheets or mechanical problems to the Department Manager, Supervisor/Lead, and CK Technician.
- Empty waste and keep accurate records.
- Anything else requested by the department Lead/Supervisor/Department Mgr.

Educational Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED), three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior manufacturing and textiles experience is preferred. Willing to train someone with no experience.
- Must Pass criminal background check and drug screen.
- Demonstrated Mechanical aptitude.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have previous exposure to Manufacturing software or demonstrate the ability to learn the Manufacturing software currently in use at the facility. (Data entry, Inventory Tracking, barcoding etc..)
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Demonstrated ability to speak/communicate effectively.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
