What are the responsibilities and job description for the Auto Tech position at Highland Laboratories?
Position Summary :
Responsible for the upkeep of machinery, equipment, and plant operations by managing the ongoing completion of mechanical repairs, adjustments, parts negotiation, vendor / supplier organization, installations, and facility repairs necessary for safe and proper appearance and function of the facility.
Essential Functions :
- Evaluate all prospective repairs or changes to existing equipment and facility. Keep Management briefed regarding progress and problems associated with such projects.
- Contract with outside service providers for repairs and construction work as required. Request bids, research alternatives, and evaluate purchase of parts and equipment as directed. Schedule work according to planning, while keeping Management briefed of progress.
- Develop written policy and procedures relating to maintenance / facility operation, safety, GMP's, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Oversee any repairs or maintenance on all production machinery and equipment to ensure that it is maintained in working order, with as little downtime as possible.
- Maintain maintenance equipment maintenance files. Update files every time a repair or preventative maintenance is preformed.
Marginal Functions :
Maintain facility repairs and appearance inside and out. Includes cleaning of restrooms and garbage removal. Changing filters, light bulbs, small damage repairs, painting, and odd duties as required.

Power tools and equipment, wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, hammer and nails, soldering iron, welder, painting equipment, sand blaster, pallet jacks, hand trucks, drums, computer records, E-mail, and other equipment used for plant and mechanical maintenance.
