Description:

Position Summary:

Contributes to the efficient operation of the Manufacturing Department by providing beginning through intermediate skill level in operating and monitoring general equipment, resulting in the manufacture of quality products.

Essential Functions:

  • Learn and practice Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) established for the Coating Department and Manufacturing areas.
  • Process products using proper procedures, including proper machinery settings, correct coating solutions, good product appearance and quality.
  • Maintain required paperwork and logs associated with department.
  • Maintain daily production schedules.
  • Follow all changeover and clean-up procedures established in SOP’s.
  • Maintain clean machines, equipment, and department.
  • Follow all safety procedures established for department and plant.
  • Communicate with Manufacturing Supervisor, and other departments regarding daily operations.
  • Maintain excellent attendance.

Marginal Functions:

  • Help out in other departments when operations are slow.
  • Assist with training and orienting new employees.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of an organized manufacturing area.

Physical Requirements:

  • Vision, hearing, and speaking to meet performance standard.
  • Bending, stooping, climbing, twisting, walking, standing, pushing, pulling, manual dexterity and large motor skills needed to work with the following tools: scoops, screen, scale, mill, blender, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and drums.
  • Experience and current ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry it up to ten yards on a frequent basis.

Equipment Used:

Coating machines, sprayers, metal detectors, scoops, drums, mixer and scales, polisher, ribbon blender, picking table

Work Environment:

  • May require mandatory overtime during peak periods or as business needs dictate.
  • Requires compliance to all department and company Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operation Procedures.
  • Requires ability to work in an environment that contains fumes, dust, odors, noise, chemicals, temperature variations, and varying levels of ventilation.
  • Requires team-orientation, common sense and good judgment, professional behavior, effective communication (oral and written), and problem solving skills.
  • Requires ability to take and follow directions, time management skills, organizational development and improvement.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of math, including metric weights and measures.
  • Experience with reading, writing, speaking, and comprehending fluent English.
  • Demonstrated reliability and attention to quality.
  • Experience within vitamin / agricultural / food products industry preferred.
  • Experience within a production environment preferred.

Wage Summary:

Level 1 General Laborer:

  • Learn and practice Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) established for the Manufacturing areas.
  • Understanding of how to operate and maintain polishers, metal detectors, ribbon blenders, and coater.
  • Process products using proper procedures, including proper machinery settings, correct coating solutions, good product appearance and quality.
  • Maintain daily production schedules.
  • Follow all safety procedures established for department and plant.
  • Maintain good communication with Manufacturing Supervisor, and other departments regarding daily operations.
  • Maintain excellent attendance.
  • Help out in other departments when operations are slow.
  • Assist with training and orienting new employees.

Level 2 General Laborer:

  • Maintain Level 1 General Laborer attributes.
  • Full understanding of how to effectively perform wet granulations on ribbon blenders, while also maintaining the unit.
  • Full understanding on how to properly coat tablets using the coating machine, while also maintaining the unit.

Level 3 General Laborer:

  • Maintain level 2 General Laborer attributes.
  • Helps submit new ideas on how to improve the manufacturing department.
  • Is approved by the Quality Control Department to do QC checks in the manufacturing department.
  • Has a mastery of all general operations of the Manufacturing Department.
