What are the responsibilities and job description for the Order Puller position at Highland Lumber Sales Inc?
We are looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Order Puller to join our team at the lumber yard. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately selecting, gathering, and preparing lumber and other building materials for customer orders. You will assist with inventory management, ensure proper handling of materials, and help maintain an organized yard. A strong focus on accuracy, physical stamina, and teamwork is essential to ensure efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately pull and prepare lumber and other materials according to customer orders.
- Safely load and unload materials onto delivery trucks or customer vehicles.
- Organize and maintain inventory within the yard, ensuring products are stored properly.
- Inspect materials for quality and report any defects or discrepancies.
- Assist with maintaining a clean and safe work environment, keeping aisles and storage areas clear.
- Follow all safety protocols and company procedures while handling materials and equipment.
- Work closely with team members and supervisors to fulfill orders efficiently.
- Assist customers with locating and loading materials as needed.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other yard equipment when required (training provided if needed).
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall yard operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in a lumber yard, warehouse, or similar environment is a plus.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or overtime as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification within the first 30 days.
- Experience working with building materials or construction supplies.
- Basic knowledge of inventory management and stock tracking.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy or bulky materials.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, and squat for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in different weather conditions.
- Ability to safely operate equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
